From September 4 to 6, the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation was held. Behind the gathering of heads of state of many African countries in Beijing and the elevation of China-Africa relations to a new height, many Chinese companies have been deeply engaged in Africa for many years and have continuously explored an open and win-win model. Zoomlion, a leading equipment manufacturing company, is one of them.
In 2007, Zoomlion entered the African continent for the first time due to the Algerian East-West Expressway project, becoming one of the earliest companies in China's equipment manufacturing industry to enter the continent. Over the past 17 years, Zoomlion's engineering cranes, earthmoving machinery, concrete machinery, construction cranes, aerial work machinery and other types of engineering machinery and agricultural machinery have entered Africa in an all-round way, and now it has entered a new stage of deepening openness and win-win cooperation.

New technology + localization
Continuously expand new boundaries of the industry
Core technology holds the right to speak in the industry. As a leader in the development of industry technology and products and a setter of industry standards, Zoomlion continues to expand new boundaries of the industry with export records in the African market.
In August 2023, the T2850-120V tower crane was officially delivered in the West, setting a record for China's largest tonnage tower crane exported to the entire Africa; in May 2024, Zoomlion's 1250-ton crawler crane was successfully delivered to a South African customer, becoming the largest tonnage crawler crane in Africa at present, and also marking another new breakthrough for Zoomlion in the African market.
After the delivery of Zoomlion's 1250-ton crawler crane, it was immediately put into the construction of local key wind power projects. The huge crawler crane lifted the wind turbine tower weighing 107 tons steadily and installed it on the base smoothly. The whole lifting process was tightly connected and performed excellently, winning high praise from African customers.

In June 2024, Zoomlion's HZS180 concrete mixing plant was installed and put into use in the Kelintu Industrial Park in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, becoming the largest local concrete mixing plant and the most technologically advanced mixing plant in Ethiopia.
At present, Africa is in a critical period of promoting modernization. The research and development of new technologies and "tailor-made" have become a "weapon" for opening up the African market and jointly promoting African modernization. Zoomlion is participating in the construction of many key projects in Africa with its technological advantages. In the construction of the tallest building in Africa, Zoomlion launched a series of high-performance tower cranes that adapt to local climatic conditions such as windy sand and high temperature; on the Roseau Bridge jointly built by Senegal and Mauritania, Zoomlion specially developed a full-rotation casing drilling method to protect the local environment.
Since the beginning of this year, Zoomlion has delivered more than 450 tractors in Nigeria. These tractors have been optimized and upgraded in terms of power system, transmission system, etc., which has improved driving comfort and ease of operation. They are more suitable for Nigeria's arable land environment, lower the threshold for farmers in the country to use machinery, and are widely welcomed.

Zoomlion's products can fully enter the African market and are highly recognized, which is closely related to its important overseas expansion model.
Zoomlion takes projects as an opportunity in the African market and products as the market fulcrum to continuously build and improve a three-dimensional network system in the local area. In order to make the huge network system take root and develop rapidly, Zoomlion transplants the unique overseas business system of "end-to-end, digitalization, and localization" to Africa, realizes a three-dimensional localized operation pattern, and strengthens the service parts support system.
At present, Zoomlion has established subsidiaries in South Africa, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Kenya, and has built a joint venture factory in Algeria. It has spare parts center warehouses in Algeria and South Africa to provide local customers with one-stop services such as sales, service, technology and financing. As of the first half of 2024, Zoomlion has laid a total of 22 outlets in Africa relying on 4 first-level airports (subsidiaries). It is expected that by the end of this year, Zoomlion will achieve business coverage in more than 25 countries and more than 40 outlets in Africa.
Zoomlion's "airport + ground force" end-to-end direct sales model can capture and respond to local market, technology and capital needs more quickly, and provide local mechanization solutions throughout the process. At the same time, the construction and improvement of this network is also playing a leading and demonstration role in the network coverage and operation management of industrialization and agricultural modernization in Africa.
In April this year, the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China and the co-organizer of Zoomlion Agricultural Machinery invited a group of agricultural, animal husbandry and fishery personnel from African countries to come to China to participate in the "Belt and Road National Agricultural Disaster Reduction and Prevention and Climate Change Capacity Training Course" and the "Developing Countries Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center Management Training Course".
Internally, in August this year, the unveiling ceremony of Zoomlion's Overseas Academy and the global employee rotation training plan were officially launched. 61 overseas airport front-line employees from 26 countries gathered in Changsha to break the traditional hierarchical barriers, share the pain points and difficulties in business operations, achieve seamless connection and sharing of information, and jointly promote business improvement in communication and integration.
Localized employees have always been one of the important guarantees for Zoomlion to achieve rapid development in Africa. As of August 2024, the total number of Zoomlion employees in Africa will exceed 200, of which local employees account for more than 90%. On August 15, Zoomlion held a local employee career development system launch and senior personnel certification ceremony in Istanbul, Turkey, marking the beginning of the global promotion of the new system, helping overseas employees to unleash their potential, achieve personal growth and enhance their capabilities, and make the "global village" a stage for employees to realize their own value.
