New Arrival: Gaia GIA C15E Electric Wheel Loader, the 'All-Electric Ace' for G
June 25,2026
Underground mining operations are all about efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. Epiroc's local brand, Gaia, has launched the GIA C15E electric LHD (Load-Haul-Dump) machine—a 15-ton class powerhouse that brings high productivity, low consumption, and safety to Chinese mines with a pure electric underground loading and hauling solution.
High Productivity and Low Consumption: The 15-ton Class Electric Powerhouse
The Gaia GIA C15E has a rated payload capacity of 15 tons, with electric drive providing strong power response. Completes the "scoop-load-dump" cycle in 14 seconds—high production under heavy load, maximizing capacity.
Compared to diesel LHDs of the same tonnage, the C15E reduces energy consumption by about 70%, cutting carbon emissions by 340 tons annually. The electric drive demands less ventilation, lowers operating costs, and provides a cleaner working environment—achieving cost reduction and efficiency while avoiding cost risks from energy fluctuations, and protecting the health of underground workers.
Proven in Practice, Data Speaks: In an actual application at an iron mine, the excellent performance of the Gaia GIA C15E was verified: stable shift haulage exceeding 1300 tons, with a monthly accumulated LHD volume reaching 70,368 tons—efficient heavy load, continuous output. For underground LHD operations, stable high cycle efficiency and sustained high shift production are crucial. The actual performance of the Gaia GIA C15E fully reflects Gaia's firm commitment to creating high-yield, reliable underground loading and hauling equipment.
Safety and Comfort: Hardcore Protection for Underground Operations
Safety is paramount in underground operations. The Gaia GIA C15E is equipped with an ROPS&FOPS certified cab, door interlock device, SAHR spring brake hydraulic release braking and parking system, automatic or manual fire extinguishing system, reverse alarm and indicator lights, three emergency stop points, and central hinge & boom lock—building a comprehensive safety defense.
Additionally, the ergonomic joystick, air-conditioned enclosed cab, and spacious footwell space optimize the operating experience, effectively alleviating fatigue from long hours of work, achieving both efficiency and comfort.
Intelligence Upgrade: Born for Future Mines
The equipment has built-in fault self-diagnosis capabilities, identifying potential anomalies in advance, and minimizing the risk of unplanned downtime. Moreover, the equipment can be upgraded to a high-performance version, equipped with automation and remote control functions, allowing operators to stay away from dangerous work areas, achieving safe and efficient unmanned or minimally manned operations, fully supporting the digital upgrade of mines.
It's also worth mentioning the optional Gaia GIA diesel-driven transfer and power generation vehicle—unlike traditional operations relying on diesel LHDs to drag equipment for transfer, the power generation vehicle can drive the C15E on-site, eliminating range anxiety and enhancing cross-area mobility. Once the equipment is in place, the power generation vehicle can also supply power to underground machinery like jumbo drills, multi-purpose use, optimizing ancillary costs.
