Weichai Becomes the First 'Zero-Carbon Factory' in the Internal Combustion Eng

On August 16th, an event themed "Zero Carbon Driven, Smart Future" was held at Weichai Digital Industrial Park for the awarding of the Zero Carbon Factory certification and the launch of a sustainable development initiative. At the event, the China Quality Certification Center awarded Weichai the first "Zero Carbon Factory" certificate in the internal combustion engine industry.
A zero carbon factory is an advanced form of a green factory, indicating that a company achieves net-zero carbon emissions through autonomous emission reduction and carbon offsetting. Since its establishment in 2021, Weichai Digital Industrial Park has been targeting zero carbon goals. The park relies on key technologies such as "wind-photo-storage-hydrogen-waste energy" to reduce carbon emissions at the source, establishing a comprehensive management model of "carbon reduction at the source, carbon reduction in the process, and intelligent carbon control." Through carbon credit offsetting, it ultimately achieves 100% carbon neutrality.
The transition to green and low-carbon is not a solitary journey for a single company; it is a systemic change that covers the entire industry chain and value chain. As the leading enterprise in the power equipment manufacturing industry, Weichai, along with the EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) team of experts and representatives of domestic and international partners present, jointly issued a green initiative for sustainable development: to deeply cultivate green innovation and jointly explore new zero-carbon industry tracks; to create green products and reshape low-carbon genes throughout the entire lifecycle; to practice green operations and draw a new blueprint for the green supply chain; to upgrade green services and build a solid foundation for cooperative trust; to jointly build a green future and embark on a new journey of sustainable development.
Since initiating carbon management in 2020, Weichai has successively been rated as a national green factory, a leading enterprise in domestic carbon peak achievement, and has been honored on the 2024 Forbes China ESG50 list, winning the 2025 International Green Design Award, and completing the first carbon management system certification in the internal combustion engine industry. The establishment of the zero carbon factory is another vivid practice of Weichai's commitment to green development concepts. In the future, Weichai will focus on the national "dual carbon" strategic goals, consolidate the achievements of zero carbon factory creation, refine carbon management levels, lead the industry's green upgrade with a leading role, and reshape the green competitiveness of Chinese manufacturing.
