Industry's First Five-Speed ECVT Agricultural Electric-Drive System Debuts at T
October 31,2026
Recently, the Tianjin International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition opened in grand style. The five-speed ECVT agricultural electric-drive hybrid system jointly developed by Zhixin Control and Cummins was officially unveiled at the show by Cummins, bringing a new powertrain solution to the next-generation hybrid agricultural machinery track.
For a long time, high-power agricultural machinery continuously variable transmission solutions have heavily relied on the traditional hydraulic CVT route, which suffers from efficiency bottlenecks, leakage risks, high maintenance costs and limited control precision.
The five-speed ECVT hybrid system jointly launched by Zhixin Control and Cummins is a breakthrough aimed squarely at these industry pain points: replacing the traditional hydraulic CVT with an electric-drive architecture, and through a five-speed coupling structure, balancing high-power operating loads, continuously variable speed characteristics and hybrid energy-management modes, opening a new route for agricultural CVT electric-drive hybridization.
Core Product Advantages
Five-Speed ECVT Architecture: Multi-gear plus electric continuously variable speed, supporting direct drive, series, parallel and power-split drive modes, balancing heavy-load traction and travel speed ranges to cover both working and transfer conditions.
Dual Power Assurance: Engine and motor dual power output coupling, smooth shifting with no power drop.
Deep Hybrid Matching: Custom-coupled and matched with Cummins engines, keeping the engine operating in its high-efficiency range and significantly reducing agricultural machinery fuel consumption.
High-Precision Electronic Speed Control: Fast electric-drive response and smooth speed regulation make fine operations such as plowing, deep loosening and sowing more stable.
Lower Maintenance Cost: Avoids common hydraulic oil leakage and valve wear, reducing service frequency and suiting harsh field conditions.
Platform Design: Supports adaptation to different horsepower segments of agricultural machinery hosts, meeting medium- and long-term electrification and hybridization iteration needs.
Agricultural machinery hybridization is a definite direction for the industry. In this joint development, Zhixin Control brings its self-developed capabilities in electric transmission, power coupling and electronic control strategies, fully combined with Cummins' mature internal-combustion engine platform advantages, achieving integrated calibration of engine plus electric-drive system — not a simple parts assembly, but a complete powertrain solution oriented to real agricultural operating scenarios.
This Tianjin show unveiling is the first public appearance of this electric five-speed ECVT solution to the industry. Going forward, Zhixin Control will continue to advance host integration, field validation and industrial implementation, and together with agricultural machinery OEM partners, use domestically developed electric transmission technology to upgrade agricultural equipment powertrains, supporting the autonomy and low-carbon transformation of China's agricultural machinery industry.
