Zoomlion Smart Agriculture on CCTV: Remote Sensing Aids Rice Management

September 08,2026

On September 6, CCTV's "Xinwen Lianbo" (News Broadcast) aired "Autumn Grain Enters Critical Yield-Formation Period Nationwide," reporting how Zoomlion Smart Agriculture's remote-sensing field-patrol technology supports rice field management and provides technical backing for stable and higher autumn grain yields. Below is the original report.

Autumn grain accounts for roughly three-quarters of annual grain output. With the White Dew solar term approaching, autumn grain has fully entered the critical yield-formation period. New equipment and technologies are helping improve field-management quality and efficiency, laying a solid foundation for a bumper harvest.

▲Drone about to take off automatically from its nest for patrol

CCTV reporter Jiang Shulin: This is a smart farm in Changsha, Hunan, a major grain-producing area. Its core zone covers 400–500 mu (about 27–33 hectares). Using traditional manual field patrol, completing the inspection would take one to two hours, but now this task is handled by the drone behind me.

The multispectral drone shuttles back and forth at an altitude of 100 meters. Once it detects plots with suspected pest damage or weak growth, it descends to 12–60 meters for close-up verification shots. Cloud-based AI algorithms then analyze the images and automatically generate color-coded rice growth analysis maps.

Wang Kairui, Functional Integration Engineer, Zoomlion Smart Agriculture: Our drone's zoom can reach more than 100x, meaning we can accurately detect leaf color and any spots on each leaf of the rice plant.

This year, the more than 300,000 agricultural drones nationwide are expanding faster into new applications such as field-patrol monitoring and variable-rate fertilization.
