Guardian of the Green Mine! Great Wall Heavy Industry Helps Hainan Write a New

GT105E Arrives in Hainan
On October 8, a batch of Great Wall Heavy Industry GT105E new-energy wide-body trucks was delivered in Hainan and officially entered mining operations on the island. This was no ordinary handover: on a tropical island that has written "ban on fuel-vehicle sales by 2030" into its development plan, new-energy construction equipment is becoming the new protagonist of the green mine.
Heat, Salt Fog — All Part of the Test
To serve in Hainan over the long term, construction equipment must cope with complex and harsh conditions — high temperature, high humidity, high salinity, frequent heavy rain and typhoons. Hainan's annual average temperature exceeds 25°C, staying above 30°C for long stretches in summer; average annual humidity runs 77%–86% with a long rainy season. Coastal air is rich in salt fog, and metal components corrode far faster than inland. For mining equipment, Hainan is a natural "extreme-environment proving ground."
The GT105E was built precisely for conditions like Hainan's. The question it answers is direct: how can a pure-electric wide-body truck do the job well, save money and last long on a tropical mine that stays hot and humid with salt fog all year?
Heat and Humidity — a "Cool-Headed" Response
GT105E's answer is systematic. At the battery level, it uses mining-grade lithium iron phosphate cells that run stably from -35°C to 65°C; a lamination process gives good thermal stability and cuts heat generation by 5% under the same duty. For thermal management, the truck carries intelligent battery temperature control with 12 kW of cooling power per unit, ±1°C precision, three-sided cooling and strong heat exchange — effectively locking the battery and drive motors in their optimal window, with no power limit even when fast-charging at 40°C ambient.
Salt-Fog Corrosion — a "Tough-Guy" Build
The frame uses an integrated riveted structure that avoids the heat-affected zones and stress concentrations of welding, cutting stress-corrosion risk at the source and raising reliability by 40%. A 610L high-strength steel frame, NM400 wear plate body and 700L reinforced beams deliver corrosion resistance, impact resistance and wear resistance together.
Efficient Operation — "Twin-Engine" Power
For propulsion, the GT105E uses dual motors plus an AMT three-speed gearbox with 800 kW peak power. A dedicated grade-shift strategy keeps the motors in their efficient range so it never loses climbing ability; when descending, braking energy recovery exceeds 90%, making a long downhill a continuous "free charge." With adaptive grade drive and intelligent vehicle control, recovery efficiency is 15% above the industry norm. After a heavy day's work, a fuel truck burns fuel while the GT105E saves real operating cost.
Numbers Tell the Story — Winning Step by Step
How much do new-energy wide-body trucks actually save at a mine? Great Wall Heavy Industry has hard field data from multiple sites.
At a stone mine in Nanning, Guangxi, a GT105E (450 kWh) costs just over 10,000 yuan a year in total operating cost — a 94% drop versus a comparable fuel truck. At an open-pit coal mine in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, 20 GT105E units (battery-swap version, 568 kWh) cut total operating cost by 77% versus fuel trucks, saving about 585,000 yuan per unit per year — over 11 million yuan across the fleet annually.
In Hainan's hot, humid environment the math looks even better: the pure-electric architecture removes daily maintenance of a fuel system, the 450 kWh battery with fast charging leaves virtually no "recharge anxiety" in a shift, and its zero-emission, low-noise traits fit Hainan's green, low-carbon goals perfectly.
From the blue sea across the Qiongzhou Strait to the working faces deep in the mines, the GT105E's Hainan story is only beginning. Great Wall Heavy Industry will keep its mission of "unleashing machinery productivity," bringing more pure-electric equipment to Hainan and to green mines across China, contributing construction-machinery strength to the "dual-carbon" goals.
